Club & Etiquette

Club Rules, Dojo Etiquette & Training Terms

At Jujutsu Oulu Ry, we train under the guidance of experienced instructors in a safe, respectful, and positive environment. Please familiarize yourself with the club rules and terms.

1. Dojo Etiquette & Training Culture

  • Respect & Bowing: When entering and leaving the dojo (training hall), bow towards the hall and the tatami to show respect for the training space and the martial art. Always begin and end each exercise with a bow to your training partner.
  • Cleanliness & Hygiene: Training attire (Gi / No-Gi apparel) must be clean. Finger and toe nails must be trimmed short to prevent scratching. Feet must be washed before stepping onto the tatami.
  • Jewelry & Accessories: Rings, chains, watches, earrings, and other piercings must be removed during training or taped safely.
  • Punctuality: Arrive at the dojo well ahead of the session start time so that warm-ups can begin safely and together.

2. Registration & Free Trial Period

  • Free Trial Period: Every basic course participant and new practitioner has the right to try training sessions for 2–3 weeks completely free of charge with no commitment.
  • Insurance & Licenses: Practitioners are responsible for their own personal accident insurance unless agreed otherwise. We recommend taking out an accident insurance policy that covers martial arts.
  • Age Limits: Juniors train in the 7–14 age group. The minimum age for adult Hokutoryu Ju-Jutsu is 15 years. Parental or guardian consent is required for minors.

3. Payments & Sports Benefits

The season fee or basic course fee is paid after the trial period ends via bank transfer (with reference number), MobilePay (20454), Zettle card payment, or employee sports benefits (Smartum, ePassi, Edenred).

Detailed pricing and payment terms for sports benefits can be found on our Pricing page.

4. Safety & Zero Tolerance

Jujutsu Oulu Ry maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards any form of bullying, discrimination, harassment, and violence both inside and outside the dojo. Techniques taught by the club may only be used during dojo training and in lawful self-defense situations to protect one's own or another person's physical integrity. A serious breach of club rules may lead to immediate expulsion from the club.
