Attending your first class at Äimäkuja 6 A is made completely effortless. Here is what to pack in your bag:
A standard t-shirt and sweatpants (without zippers or metal buttons). Gi uniforms are acquired during the course.
Sandals for walking between the changing rooms and the edge of the tatami mats. Training on mats is done barefoot.
Fresh water bottle. Showers and foot washing stations are available at our academy prior to entering the tatami.
Trimmed finger and toe nails ensure safe, injury-free training for you and your practice partner.
Bow. Expression of mutual respect for the dojo, instructor, and training partner.
Begin! Instructor command to start a technique or drill.
Stop! Immediately freeze and listen to the instructor's feedback.
Training hall. Our academy is located at Äimäkuja 6 A in Oulu.

Taking your first step is easier than you think! No prior athletic background or special gear is needed.
No martial arts uniform (Gi) required! You can train in comfortable sportswear (t-shirt & sweatpants/shorts) for the majority of the beginner course – uniform is only needed near the belt test.
We train barefoot on the clean mat area. Bring flip-flops or sandals for walking in the corridors and changing rooms.
Trim your fingernails and toenails short before class. Remove rings, watches, and jewelry for safety on the mats.
Bring a refillable water bottle. Regular water breaks are provided throughout class to keep you hydrated.

Shared Dojo Facility: The training hall is shared with Budoseura Oulun Musokai. Training slots are allocated according to the weekly timetable above. Independent training outside reserved slots is permitted under keyholder supervision.

Not at all! The beginner course is designed to build fitness progressively. Everyone trains at their own pace, and you will notice significant endurance gains within a few weeks.
For the first few weeks, standard indoor workout clothes (T-shirt and sweatpants), a towel for washing feet, and a water bottle are all you need. We train barefoot on tatami mats. Official Ju-Jutsu gis are acquired later in the course.
Safety is our top priority in Hokutoryu Ju-Jutsu. All techniques are practiced in a controlled environment under experienced supervision. We first teach breakfalls (ukemi) so throws and falls are safe.
Yes! We accept ePassi, Smartum, Edenred, and Tyky vouchers. You can easily complete payment via mobile app at the dojo or remotely before the course begins.
